HH Capsules (Zhang) Each bottle, 45 capsules, each capsule, 250 mg of a proprietary extract of the entire plant, Houttuynia cordata Thunb. (Also contains gelatin and cellulose.) In traditional medicine, the leaves are often used as a tea. The plant is considered an invasive species in some parts of the U.S. (though this suggests that maybe it should be viewed as a helpful crop, like dandelions, rather than a threat...harvest it, maybe??)
It may have some benefit in managing Lyme disease and lab data suggests it may help division of white blood cells. It appears also to inhibit NF-kB which may be helpful in limiting HIV production in cells and, in another context, reduce the inflammatory effects of mast cells that are associated with some allergic reactions. A study in rats "showed both antioxidative and antimutagenic properties under OFO feeding-induced oxidative stress" (Chen, et al., 2003). See also http://www.steveclarknd.com/LymeDisease.htm.
Suggested use is to take 1 capsule three times per day.
