Calcium 1000 Tabs (Twinlab) Each bottle, 120 tablets. Each tablet, 400 IU of Vitamin D (from cholecalciferol) and 1,000 mg of calcium (from calcium carbonate and calcium citrate). Bone loss is a potentially significant problem in the context of HIV disease and is probably related to antiviral drug use. Helping to maintain strong bones makes sense and some data suggest that even low doses (500 mg of calcium and 200 IU of vitamin D) can be helpful. (Why they selected such low doses is unclear but probably related to the urge to sell more alendronate.) Suggested use is to take with a meal as this will enhance absorption. Data suggest that carbonate and citrate forms are about equally well absorbed when taken with food. The apparent absorption advantage of citrate forms only occurs when taken on an empty stomach.
Other ingredients: Corn starch, Croscarmellose sodium, cellulose, titanium dioxide, polysorbate, soy lecithin, maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, triacetin, glycerin, po.lyethylene glycol, carnauba wax.
